City status: Awarded at the start of chronicle by the ST, there is no XP cost associated with this merit. Over the course of the game, your character's City Status might rise and fall, depending on his or her actions, how your character is perceived by his fellows and the ST, or based on the actions of those PCs able to alter a Kindred's status. The definition of these values may also change as the city moves forward without the Kindred who defined them in the first place.
Ghouls and the Embrace: The current ghoul rules state that upon Embrace, a ghoul retains any blood bonds or blood addiction present during their living days. This mechanic is changed to, "Upon embrace, any blood bond or addiction a ghoul has is destroyed.
- 5 status: Prime Minister Lud
- 4 status: only 1, maybe 2 kindred have this level of status--they are the most
trusted and valued of Lud's allies, and hold some exalted position in his court.
They have his ear, and may petition him at any time.
- 3 status: Lud's trusted allies, these people have almost certainly performed
some service that garnered his favor, as well as exhibited some ability as well
as steadfast loyalty. At each gathering, Lud always makes time to listen to
petitions from this group.
- 2 status: Those who have lived in London for a time and demonstrated some
ability, but haven't proven themselves yet. Those who are particularly skilled
are sometimes referred to by Lud as his "loyal opposition," and it's an open
secret that he and his allies hone their own skills by seeking to crush the
plans and ambitions of these kindred. It's nothing personal, mind you, and if a
Kindred manages to best Lud or his people they can gain a great deal of
respect--though only those truly loyal will rise in standing. Kindred at this
level have no direct access to Lud, and usually must petition those above them
in status to gain an audience--but every once in awhile the PM will grow bored,
and invite these kindred to speak to him without a sponsor.
- 1 status: you have Lud's permission to live in his territory, and that's about
it--either you're very new, or haven't done anything of note (or noticeable)
during your stay. So long as you don't cause trouble, Lud doesn't care about
you or your needs--if you desire a meeting with the PM, you need to petition
someone above you to speak on your behalf.
- 0 status: Meat for the Hound!
